What is Nano Technology?

There is a real buzz in the industry at the moment about Nano Particles, and as per usual there is a great deal of hype and misinformation, and this can become very confusing for the consumer. At Heidi Yi Cosmetics we want to make sure that you have all the information so please speak to us about our Mineral Foundation formulations, make the right choice for your business from our many different formulations of Mineral Foundations!

The term nanoparticle is used to refer to a small particle with all three dimensions less than 100 nanometres.

Breakdown of Particle size of the following Heidi Yi Cosmetics ingredients:

This is a standard Zinc Oxide with a median particle size of approx. 0.2 microns (this is 200 nanometres), with all particles between 0.1 microns and 0.3 microns. As a result, Heidi Yi Cosmetics Zinc Oxide is nearly invisible when applied to the skin yet still offers both broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection!

Included in our Matte Mineral Foundation Powders this offers a heavier coverage, and when incorporated with our other ingredients feels like silk on the skin without any weight.

This is the standard Zinc Oxide that we use in all products listed on our ingredient listing, i.e. shadows, blush, bronzers etc.

Z-Cote is a zinc oxide with a median particle size of approx. 0.1 microns (this is 100 nanometres) all particles are between 0.8 microns and 0.2 microns. As a result, Z-Cote is invisible when applied to the skin yet still offers both broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection without being able to penetrate the skin layers. This is included in our fine Mineral Foundation powders.

The particle size of this Titanium Dioxide ranges from 1.0 to 1.7 microns; however the average particle size is about 1.5 microns (this is 1500 nanometres).

We do a great deal of research into what is safe to use in our Mineral Cosmetics and because of this hard work and diligence our ingredients are safe and effective and approved for use worldwide.

That is why Heidi Yi Cosmetics are registered with NICNAS (this is the governing body in charge of cosmetic ingredients approval), they have approved as safe every single ingredient that we incorporate into our formulations… but Heidi Yi Cosmetics go further than this, we only incorporate ingredients that are approved for use WORLDWIDE – this means you can retail your brand in any country in the world and know that the ingredients we have chosen are approved as safe there too!
